6 Week Course in
Creative Writing for Beginners

As an experienced lecturer and tutor for adults, I am now combining my teaching & training experience with my newly acquired creative writing skills. I am therefore delighted to offer a 6-week courses in Creative Writing to adults.
I will deliver the courses in local centres within a 20 mile radius of Swansea. If you are members of a community group - for example, a choir, a book club, a WI group - I could deliver the course at your usual venue if that would be the most convenient, providing it is available.
Why Me?
Here are a few of my credentials:
Qualifications:
-
MA from the University of Wales Trinity St David’s in Creative Writing
-
BA from the Open University in Education for Adults
-
Certificate in Education (Teaching Certificate)

Course Costs
Fees are £5 per 2-hour session, paid weekly, or £25 for the full 6 week course in advance. There would need to be a minimum of 8 adults enrolling. The only equipment needed is a notebook and pen or pencil, but if you prefer to use a laptop then bring that along by all means.
Course Content:
The course will cover the following topics:
-
INSPIRATION & PERSPIRATION
-
PLOT V STORY
-
CHARACTER & SETTING
-
LIFE WRITING
-
THE SHORT STORY
-
PUBLISH AND BE DAMNED

The sessions will be practical ones, with examples as well as plenty of opportunities to express yourself. You may wish to get some additional practice in your writing skills in your own time.

Full feedback will be given, but there will be no formal assessment for this course, although it's hoped you will have produced at least one piece of work suitable for publication by the end of the course. If all participants agree, your stories may form an anthology which will be published. The aim of the course is to increase your writing skills in an enjoyable, non-judgemental way.
READINGS & TALKS - FREE
Are you a member of a group that would like me to give a talk? About writing, editing, publishing? Perhaps with a reading from one of my books? It's completely free of charge if you're a voluntary or community group. Within a 20 mile radius of Swansea I can do this in person, but distance is limitless via zoom!

Groups don't have to be formal ones. You may just be a few people who come together with a common interest.

Some examples:
Writing groups
Book clubs
WI groups
Parent clubs
OAP groups
Bored housewives groups

You get the idea!

WORKSHOPS
I can run a half-day workshop for a group, with some activities and prompts which may be useful for anyone wanting to make a start at writing, or someone with a bit of a writer’s block.
There would generally be a charge for this, but discounts would be available.
